What is a Medical Safari?
A medical safari is a safari with a mission in mind. JustUsFriends is a registered NGO in Tanzaia as well as a 501(c)(3). The medical professionals and their families may choose to go on a Medical Safari with African Journey Tours and work in the clinics built and run by JustUsFriends. These clinics are located in villages along the main safari route. In the off time, JustUsFriends and African Journey Tours will take you on a wildlife safari or cultural tour. The fees for this type of safari are made in the form of a donation to the non-profit organization which may be tax deductible.
SAMPLE MEDICAL SAFARI
Our Medical Safari’s can be scheduled for 10-days, 15-days or longer. Examples of typical medical safari’s in Tanzanian Africa are as follows
SAMPLE MEDICAL SAFARI:From the USA: Depart your nearest hometown airport for Kilimanjaro International Airport. From the US it will take approximately 24 hours to get to Africa.
14-Day Mission - Cost $6,000 USD plus airfare
Day 1 Arrive in Tanzania (Kilimanjaro International Airport which is located between the towns of Arusha and Moshi). You will be met by the JUF Country Coordinator and taken to our compound in Maji Chai, which is about a 15 minute ride from the airport.
Day 2 Work in the Loren’s Hope Medical Clinic on our compound.
Day 3 Work in the Loren’s Hope Medical Clinic or at one of our partner private hospitals.
Day 4 Leave Maji Chia and travel to Tarangire for a Culture and Nature experience.
Day 5 Travel to Lake Manyara Clinic. Culture and Nature tour.
Day 6 Work in Lake Manyara Clinic
Day 7 Culture and Nature at Ngorongoro Crater Area
Day 8 Work in Lake Manyara Clinic
Day 9 Culture and Nature in Serengeti area
Day 10 Culture and Nature in Serengeti area
Day 11 Drive back to Lake Manyara area
Day 12 Work at Lake Manyara Clinic
Day 13 Return to JUF Maji Chai compound
Day 14 Depart for Home

These are sample itineraries. The itineraries can be customized to your individual desires. Costs of these itineraries are based on a per person basis. This fee includes all transport fees, private driver, tips, all meals (3 per day) and all accommodations. The volunteer must purchase airfare independently. Group or family discounts are available.
Once your Medical Safari has been planned, scheduled and booked, your payment will be made payable to JustUsFriends as a charitable donation.
